Thanks to dozens of participants, Free Shirt Week brought excitement to the halls of SWHS. In fact, it was such a big success (actually, mostly because I had so much fun doing it), that we had another Free Shirt Week!

You know that pile of shirts you have from volunteer programs, summer camps, sports, and all the other crazy things you do that you have sitting in your bottom drawer that you only pull out when you need a new gym shirt? They feel lonely. They think you like your Hollister shirts more than them. Nobody likes to wear them because they aren’t as "hip" or "stylish" as the latest thing from American Eagle.
Well cast aside the mothballs and give those shirts a second chance! During the week of June 8th - 14th, wear those shirts to school. They each tell a story that most people probably don’t know about you. Whether it’s that you give back to your community through volunteer service, went to a cool summer camp, or are a major geek, tell your stories proudly, and ask some other people about theirs.
Summer camp shirts, shirts for school clubs or sports teams, the one they gave you for graduating elementary school, shirts you got for volunteering somewhere, the shirt you got for winning the district wide spelling bee; pretty much any shirt you didn't buy from a store is a ‘free shirt’. ‘Free shirts’ aren’t always free, but they are shirts that tell a story about something.
Actually, everyone who isn’t wearing a free shirt is going to look like a dork. The point of having a whole week dedicated to these shirts is so that you won’t be the only one wearing the bright green shirt you got at summer camp this summer. You can get your friends to do it to and all be cool together.
That’s easy. You have to tell them! IM this link to all your friends, put it in your profile, write a livejournal entry about all the shirts you’re going to wear. You could even have a party where you invite all your friends over and make your own shirts for free shirt week! The more people you let know about Free Shirt Week, the more cool free shirts there will be for you to check out!
Don’t panic! You probably have a couple in your dresser somewhere. Just dig around a bit and look for something that isn’t brand name. Maybe a t-shirt from that Backstreet Boys concert? As a last resort, you can borrow some shirts from one of your friends, just make sure you wash them before you give them back!
