The robotics team is working on all sorts of incredible promotional material to get the additional funding we will need for next year, so part of our ‘press kit’ is a DVD with a short movie on it about what FIRST is and why it’s worth funding. Every DVD needs an insert, so that is where I step in.
Jeremy had already drawn up some sketches of ideas for the CD label, but as we were trying to turn them into images, there simply wasn’t enough space on the CD to easily fit the images in. I was looking at other things in the Graphics room for inspiration, when I saw some other kids’ projects and it occured to me we could simply make a very plain and formal gold text on maroon background with bobcat head CD and then do the fancy images for the CD insert.
A CD insert gave me a lot more space to work with. I pulled images from this year and last year, and feathered them together, like with the historical days poster, into a collage. I tossed a partially opaque maroon background to put text against on top of that, and then for the inside I put the team photo, since there was no room for it on the outside.
It looks really nice, and I’m sure it will impress the people who get our promotional CD; hopefully enough that they donate us money!
