When I first got my blog, I didn't like the skinning, and came up with a simple grey and blue color scheme. That evolved from being extremely plain into have a fancy template, which is what I currently use for my blog. The actual template was originally based on one available on OSWD called CrossWired, but I changed the colors and made some technical changes to transform it from fixed width to stretchable. One nice change that taking it onto my own server allowed was the random quote that rotates at the top. This was my first major web template project, so I really got my hands dirty in XHTML and CSS along the way.

Along the way I had to make a lot of changes to interface first with the old blogging site’s output, and them to the output of my new blogging script, pmachine. There were really no major overhauls, and the design stands relatively unchanged through the transition. I really liked the color scheme, and adopted it for the portfolio you’re in now. One quirk: The orange and grey you see are remnants from the original color scheme that I never changed and look pretty good in the grey.

You can see Grey Winter in action on my blog.
